EMERGENCY!

Yes, when we are in the emergency situation, calling 911 would be the best option. BUT, not all cases should be reported to 911. So, today I will give some situations that seem dangerous, however we can CONTROL it by knowing and following the right steps.

WHAT IF.......

a) A thief tries to snatch your handbag/ bag/ purse

Yes, I know that you will feel VERY TERRIBLE to lose a handbag with lots of precious things including your ID and money, BUT remember YOUR LIFE IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than your bag. So, what you can do is that:
a) Letting go of the bag
b) Shouting "Help, bag snatcher. Call the police!"

REMEMBER!
  • Hold your bag on the side of your body farthest away from the road
  • Wear your bag with the strap diagonally across your body
  • Don't ever try to follow the bag snatcher
b) Your friend chokes

When you and your friend are having a meal and suddenly one of your friend starts to clutch their throat and gasp for air, this means he or she is choking. Before things getting worse, what you can do is:
a) Stand to the side of your choking friend with one arm on his or her chest for support
b) Try some quick hard blows between their shoulder blades
However, if it does not work, you should try the chest thrust or abdominal thrust technique:

REMEMBER!
  • Chew your food SLOWLY!
  • Don't eat while lying down
  • Avoid from drinking and eating at the same time
c) A stranger follows you

If you are walking alone, the chance of being followed by a stranger is high. So, what to do?
a) Try to turn the corner. If the stranger does the same thing, YES, you are being followed.
b) Walk to the direction that lead you to other people
c) Get into a nearby shop or restaurant to ask for help
d) Make your perfume/ keys/ umbrella/ high heels as your weapon

REMEMBER!
  • Don't panic or start running. Remain CALM
  • Don't ever turn to the stranger and ask "What is your problem?"
  • Don't stop and look around-just walk forward
d) Your car breaks down at NIGHT

It is definitely not a good thing if your car suddenly breaks down at night. Oh well, just remember not to panic. You have to:
a) It is best to try to stop your car under or near a light
b) If you have a hand phone, try to call for help
c) If not, flag down a motorist for help
d) Switch your headlights to low beam and stand in front of it to wave for help

REMEMBER!
  • Don't sit with your bonnet up and front doors open
  • Try to stop the car that carries families or more than one passenger-for SAFETY
  • Regularly service your car
  • Keep a spare handheld torch in your car

So, I hope that these information would be helpful for all of us especially for ladies. Always careful with whatever you do. Till we meet again!
